About

Hinduism is a diverse tradition made up of many regional and philosophical currents rather than a single unified doctrine. In Nepal it has a long-standing historical and cultural presence and intersects closely with local festivals, temple life and daily practice. Traditions and interpretations vary significantly between communities and regions, and this page will expand over time to reflect that diversity rather than flatten it into one description.

Beliefs

Hindu traditions generally engage with concepts such as dharma (duty/right action), karma (action and its consequences), samsara (the cycle of rebirth) and moksha (liberation from that cycle), though how these are understood and prioritized varies widely between schools, communities and individuals. Many traditions recognize a wide range of deities, often understood as different expressions of a single underlying reality — but interpretations differ significantly, and no single account speaks for the tradition as a whole.

Teachings

Teachings are transmitted through many channels — oral tradition, guru-disciple relationships, temple practice, regional custom and a large body of scripture — rather than a single centralized doctrine or authority. Because of this diversity, this page intentionally avoids presenting one interpretation as definitive; specific philosophical schools and their teachings will be introduced individually as verified content is added.
